I know there are exceptions about painted guitars, it was more of a tongue-in-cheek comment.

Yep, knew that. Just wanted to make sure the new guy didn't feel too alienated.

How 'bout that Lutz spruce at RC Tonewoods. Not a flashy grain, not too pricey, they keep insisting on its stiffness, and if I ask for the ugly grain patterns, I may keep costs even lower. Cool Alain, another Venom fan. Cronos, Mantus and Abadon would be proud. Die hard!!!! As far as painting wood, is it bad to think of a good stiff top with great tonal qualities as just a building material regardless of its grain pattern? Sure we taste with our eyes first but doesn't it come down to sound quality. Or you could look at the entire guitar as a work of art. Looks, tonal quality, inlay etc. as a total package. I guess it comes down to personal preference. Variety is the spice of life. Isn't colour just another choice of finish.

You might hear a few who question why youd want to cover up even the plainest of woods, like me for instance, but hey they're your guitars.
Again, welcome to OLF,

Heh, it's like a sunburst, only more so

Welcome, Venom.
